What are Ragdolls?

Firstly......BEWARE!!!!!    Anyone advertising cats or kittens as 'Ragdoll cross (whatever)' is NOT selling you a Ragdoll, but an expensive moggie.

Genuine, pure-bred, Ragdolls are bred for their appearance, size and temperament.  Introduce anything else into the mix - whether it be a pedigree Siamese, Burmilla, Tonkinese, Maine Coon cat or street-moggie - and you get half that cat's gene's and temperament, too.

It won't look like a Ragdoll, won't behave like a Ragdoll; it won't BE a Ragdoll at all!   Only Ragdoll to Ragdoll produced Ragdoll kittens.

Ragdoll cats are large, blue eyed, semi-long haired colourpointed, mitted or bi-coloured cats, perfectly suited to an INDOOR life.  They are found in four traditional colours - seal, blue, chocolate and lilac - and a number of 'new' colours including red, cream, seal tortie and blue tortie.   All colours are available with tabby (called Lynx on American websites).

Ragdolls should not be allowed out of doors unsupervised.  Full details about the original of these gentle creatures, their colours and patterns, can be found on our The Origins of the Ragdoll page and on the websites of The British Ragdoll Cat Club (www.tbrcc.co.uk) and The Traditionalist Ragdoll Cat Society (www.trcs.org.uk).
