Recommended Grooming Tools

A Zoom Groomer (rubber brush); a two sided soft/pin-head brush; a metal 'flea comb'; a slicker brush; Baby Talc (I use Johnsons).

It is a MYTH that Ragdolls are non-shedding and non matting.  Anything with hair sheds - hair will matt if not groomed.  Goom regularly and you'll not have these problems, or the possibility will be reduced.

Apply baby powder sparingly ('salt and pepper') to the cat or kitten and brush out again, with soft side of the two-sided brush, using upward strokes, to remove.  This will help keep fur soft, smelling beautiful, and reduce the likelihood of matts.  Brush, using pinhead side of two-sided brush, with first down-ward and then upward strokes

Use metal comb to remove loose hair, again first down-ward, and then upwards

Finish off with slicker brush, using upward strokes. This will help reduce the amount of fur you find on your carpets, furnishings and clothing!

Should your cat get the odd matt one method of removal is as follows:  Using the metal comb, ease the teeth of the comb between the cat's skin and the matt.  Take care, as your cat's skin is VERY thin and delicate.  With sharp scissors, or a 'seam ripper' (the type dress makers use), cut the matt against the steel teeth of the comb, on the opposite side from the skin.  Regular grooming will avoid the need for the above!
